Project Initiative: The volunteers worked with YES’s Leadership Corps members as adult role models and to provide supervision during workshops.
YES’s mission since the organization was founded in 1968 by Richard Williams has been to inspire and challenge youth with physical and mental activities that foster life-long respect for self, others, and the environment. The Leadership Corps at YES is a program offering teens the opportunity to develop their leadership potential as they participate in and coach outdoor activities. There are three different Leadership Corps tracks teens can choose from depending on their interests: Cross Country Ski, Downhill SnowSports, and Impact Interns. The volunteers will be working with YES’s Leadership Corps members as adult role models and to provide supervision during workshops. The volunteers will also be working in the YES ski and Snowboard rental shop to help teen participants fit younger youth for ski and snowboard equipment. Volunteers will be provided with weekly curriculum and training, and will be asked to assist YES staff in facilitating leadership activities with teens ages 13-18.
