Greater Boston Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief organization in New England and among the largest food banks in the country. Last year, we distributed nearly 62 million pounds of nutritious food to people who struggle to have enough to eat. We are committed to increasing our food distribution to provide three meals a day to every person in need in Eastern Massachusetts while supporting healthy lives and healthy communities. Volunteers at The Greater Boston Food Bank play a critical role in helping to end hunger. Each year, more than 24,000 volunteers help us sort, pack, label, and distribute food to hungry families across Eastern Massachusetts. Not only do they help us distribute food, but their contributions also save us over a million dollars in labor costs.Groups who volunteer receive an educational, team-building experience while sorting and packing food for those in need.
